Creating Rollovers in GoLive 6.0
2/03

A rollover is an image that changes as a mouse moves over it, such as the one above. It can also be a link that changes to a third image when clicked. Rollovers actually cause browsers to swap one image for another in response to user actions. Each image is assigned a state such as normal, over, or down. Although you must first create your rollover images in a program such as Photoshop or with an online image creator, adding them to GoLive documents via your site file is relatively easy.

Normal State of Rollover

Over State of Rollover

  • Create your images and save them to your image folder.
  • Insert the Normal state image into document via the Site File.
  • Click on the image to display the image inspector, and click the Rollover tab.
  • Notice that the original image has already been assigned to the Normal state.
  • Click the check box next to the Over state, and drag the point and shoot button to the image you wish to appear when the mouse is over the image.
  • Use the Down state check box to add an image to appear when the button is clicked.
  • Click the Message check box and type in a message to appear in the status bar of the browser.
  • Use the Link tab to add a link to your rollover.
  • When using tables, be sure to check that cell size is large enough to accommodate each image.
