Floating Box Actions

One of the things you can do with a Floating Box is change its visibility by using the Hide/Show Action. This is usually done via a link or rollover with the following steps:

  • Select the box and turn off the visibility check box in the inspector.
  • Highlight the graphic or text that you wish to trigger the Hide/Show action.
  • In the Inspector, type a # sign. Actions can not be triggered without a link, and using the number sign in the link field fools the computer into thinking that an anchor is used.
  • In the Actions Palette, choose your trigger. In the example below, mouse click was chosen. Click the New Action button to the left of the garbage can. Choose Multimedia, Show/Hide from the drop down menu.

  • In the Actions Palette, choose the name of the targeted box and then pick Hide, Show, or Toggle from the drop down Mode menu.
  • To hide the box, choose a trigger such as Mouse Exit, go to Multimedia/ShowHide, select the box and choose the Hide Mode.
  • Multiple Floating Boxes can be positioned with more accuracy on a grid.
  • For other effects, experiment with the Floating Box actions.
