Word Art

Although using Word Art is a great way to make a title for your page, it can be a little tricky. This is because aligning graphics via word is difficult for the computer to translate into HTML. However, there is a way to center a piece of Word Art, as follows.

If you are working with an older version of word, do this in the following manner:

Now you can move your graphic the same way you would move text. Use your align buttons to align it, and use spacebar and return to move it

Adding a Table

A table helps to align elements on your page in a more reliable manner. It is essentially a grid containing cells in which you can place text or graphics. Tables in Word can be somewhat awkward, so the simpler the better.

Word forms a table according to your specifications. You can add graphics or text to each cell. You can align the elements in each cell as desired, and you can align the entire table on your page.


Tables can be edited with either the Table Toolbar or the Table Menu. Below is an example of a 2 by 2 table. The top two cells have been merged using the table toolbar.

Like any toolbar in Word, moving your mouse over each item will tell you what it does. Word's Help menu also has extensive information on making tables.
